A discipline is a group of services. A lab can have one or more disciplines (and therefore the services) related.

For example, a discipline of Chemistry may include the services of Chemical Analysis and Controlled Substance Analysis. Your main lab may include this discipline while it is not supported by one of your regional labs.

To create a discipline, you must first have created at least one service.

Access the List of Disciplines

From the ADMIN menu, click Discipline.

Add a Discipline

Click the Add Discipline button.

Name the discipline.

Select a person or group that can assign requests for service within this discipline.

If you want the discipline to function just like a group, check the check box next to Specify Discipline as Group. Note that you can only check this check box when you initially add a discipline.

Relate one or more services to a discipline by checking the check box next to the service.

Click Save.

Relate a Discipline to a Lab

Click the Edit icon next to the lab to which you want to relate a discipline.

Click the Map Lab Discipline button.

Check the check box next to each discipline that you want to relate to this lab.
