Add a Crime Scene

To begin, select Add a Crime Scene from the left side of your screen in the Crime Scene window.

The Add Crime Scene window allows you to enter the Scene Type and Description of the scene. If your scene is a subset of a previously entered scene, you can select that scene to be the Parent Scene and your scenes will be displayed in a genealogy tree view. You may also enter a Note, Location information, and Date Entered.

If your Crime Scene is related to other case entities, select the appropriate icon in the bottom left of the window to select the related Investigation, Request, Offense, or Individual. Click OK.

When you have finished entering the Crime Scene information, click Save to close, Save and Add Another to add another scene, or Cancel to cancel your entry.

Add Responder

Once your Crime Scene has been added, you can left click on it to Add a Child Scene, Edit the Scene, Remove the Scene, or Add Attachments. You may also Add a Responder. Selecting Add Responder opens the dialogue to add information regarding the staff member's response to the scene. The Responder can be noted as the Primary Responder by clicking the Primary checkbox. The Responder record can also be related to an Evidence item by selecting the Relate Evidence icon in the bottom left corner (1).

Add Time Stamp

Once the Responder has been added, you can then left click on the Responder record to add a Date/Time Stamp. Adding a Time Stamp allows you to enter specific date and time information for the scene response, such as departure time or arrival time.
