LIMS-plus allows users to create Worklists to make the assignment and re-assignment of requests a more efficient process. In addition to this, Worklists also allow the user to group analysis and samples together for the purpose of entering results from one screen, instead of having to open each individual case. The enhancement of adding an All filter to the Worklist parameters, and to the assignment of the Worklist itself allows further flexibility in this process. This lesson will illustrate the use of All in the selection criteria for filtering requests to go on a Worklist, and the impact of Assigning the Worklist to All, versus selecting individual analyst names. *Important note: Querying for "All" in the Assigned To filter option will ONLY display requests that are currently assigned to an analyst. On the other hand, querying for "Unassigned" in the Assigned To filter option will ONLY display requests that are currently unassigned.*
Click on the Analysis menu. Select the Create Worklist option from the list.
The Lab, Unit, Service and Assigned To fields must be selected to query for requests. Select All as the Assigned To analyst.
The resulting list will show all available requests for analysis, based on the selection criteria, that are currently assigned to an analyst.
In this example, since All was selected in the parameters, the requests may be assigned to multiple users. If you leave All in the Assign To field, the application will not re-assign these requests. If you wish to re-assign the requests to a single user, select that user’s name in the Assign To field before creating the worklist.
When viewing the created Worklist, the Analyst field is blank. This is because in the creation of the Worklist, All was selected, so the individual requests did not get reassigned. Each of the individual requests are still assigned to their previous owners.
To re-assign requests to another analyst, Follow steps 1-4, but change the Assign To field to an analyst's name. Print the results.
The Analyst field shows Jason Aldean as the analyst assigned to this Worklist. Though these requests were previously assigned to other analysts, they have now been re-assigned to Jason Aldean because that is the Assign To analyst that was selected when creating the Worklist.
